Artist FAQ

What is is a place that directly connects artists and listeners in the New Music Underground. Learn more on the About page.
Why do artists use it?
Artists use to discover new fans while listeners use it to discover new artists. It's that simple. If you control all the rights to your songs, you can upload them in minutes.
Can I upload cover songs?
You must have complete and current permission in order to upload any song or content that includes third party rights. Uploading songs or content that is not owned or legally controlled by you is strictly prohibited by the Terms of Use.
What file formats can I upload?
Upload songs in the MP3 file format (file size limit = 15MB). Upload pictures in JPG, PNG, or GIF.
How do tips work?
Tipping is a simple way to be rewarded by listeners that like your music. Tips can range from $1 to $100. You get 80% of your tips and UMFM gets 20% to cover transaction costs and to support this service. For example, if a listener tips you $10, you get $8 and UMFM gets $2. Tips will be collected for each calendar month and paid out in one lump sum by the 15th day of the following month.
Receiving the money requires a PayPal account. If you already have a PayPal address, enter it when you first upload a song (or on your account page). If you don't have a PayPal account, you can still get tips. You'll receive an email from PayPal that says you have money waiting to be claimed and you can sign up for a PayPal account at that time.
